Sending a student off to college for the first time can be scary for the parents, making sure they can make it back home again in an emergency is a much needed reassurance.

3-Day Emergency Kit

While having healthy snacks in the dorm is great, a well-stocked emergency bag is essential. There are good kits available or you can build your own. We chose Mainstay 3,600 Calorie Food Bars for our student's bag; they can be kept in the trunk of a car in all weather extremes without degrading. Include a first aid kit, comfortable shoes or boots for winter, extra socks, an LED headlamp and spare batteries, a filtering water bottle etc. Choose items to work with the location and you will feel much better knowing your college student is as prepared as possible.
