During our June sale, Emergency Essentials is sampling Mountain House entrees at all of our Utah stores.

At the Bountiful store one of our favorite entrees is the Chili Mac with Beef. It is a wonderfully rich chili made with real beef and elbow macaroni. We love that is has beans in it, because so many chili entrees don’t—and beans add an additional hearty element (and healthy fiber!) to the meal. The southwest spices in the sauce are just right, too—no plain tomato sauce here! There are 10 servings per can and each serving has 240 calories. With a calorie count that low, this flavor is great even if you are watching your waistline.

It is easy to prepare—just add boiling water, wait 10 minutes, and it is ready to eat. At my house I serve it with some grated cheddar cheese on top and a warm piece of cornbread. Then I add a vegetable or a salad on the side and I have a complete meal in minutes. It’s so simple and so fast, plus we never have to worry about having all of the ingredients around to create a great dinner on short notice. Everything is already in the can.

It is amazing that such great flavor can come from a can and can store for up to 25 years! Mountain House Chili Mac with Beef is one our most requested samples at the store. Everyone loves it—especially the kids (they always ask for seconds!).
