Blood Moon Tetrad: Should You Be Worried?
The last time this happened was in the 1960’s, and the time before that was in 1949-1950. The time before that? The 90’s. As in 1493-1494. And it’s going to happen again this September. Yup, on September 27-28, 2015, our moon will turn red, thanks to the effects of a lunar eclipse. This is what is known as a “blood moon.” The unique aspect of this event is that it will be the fourth blood moon to occur within 18 months of the others, each falling on Jewish feast days. Only 55 have occurred since the year 1 AD. Among some circles, this most recent tetrad is speculated to correspond with the end of the world. The Bible has some scriptures about the moon turning to blood before the end of times, and with that come all the calamities mentioned in the Acts in the New Testament, as well as the book of Joel in the Old Testament. The Washington Post points out that the alignment of each blood moon this tetrad has aligned itself with a major Jewish Holiday:

  • October 8, 2014 – Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles)
  • April 4, 2015 – Passover
  • September 28, 2015 – Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles)
Now, you might wonder why this is such a big deal to a lot of people. After all, there have already been three blood moons this tetrad, and the world hasn’t burned yet. Mark Blitz, author of the book “Blood Moons,” argues that the end has indeed begun, despite what others might think. The Washington Post quoted Blitz’s reasoning for his claim that the blood moon prophesy of the end of the world is already playing out. [caption id="attachment_18861" align="alignright" width="300"]Middle East Upheaval - US News - blood moon tetrad Upheaval in the Middle East is just one event happening since the first blood moon of this tetrad (photo via US News)[/caption] “After the first blood moon, we’ve had the Russian invasion of the Ukraine, we’ve had the advance of ISIS, a two-month war between Israel and Gaza, the Ebola plague, the overthrow of Yemen, upheaval in the Middle East, and economic meltdowns coming. We still have over a year to go.” Blitz does have a point. However, whether the blood moon prophesy will spell the end of the world or not, I would like to hit on a principle of preparedness that we like to hit on a lot. That is to always be prepared, no matter what. Whether the world starts ending in September or not is open to debate and speculation. It might happen, but it might not. And if the blood moons are just the opening ceremonies for the end of the world, then 2016 will be even more interesting, according to Mark Blitz. If the world does not end, however, do you think the natural disasters we already face will suddenly stop? Chances of that happening are very, very unlikely. While the world spins and orbits the sun, we will most likely always be at the mercies of these natural disasters, political upheavals, economic crises, and other events that threaten our way of life. We know they will come and inconvenience our lives, so we might as well be ready for it. And, if the world does end, then I guess we’ll be ready for that, too. Blood Moon Tetrad - Be prepared
