More power to you with the Power Tower

A short, surprise power outage is an annoying inconvenience. But an outage that lasts more than a couple of hours? It puts refrigerated and frozen foods, access to everyday needs, communication with loved ones, as well as simple comforts, and even safety, all at risk.

With the Power Tower, your emergency power plan can expand beyond the basics. Smartphones and small appliances, sure! But much more than that, too: refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, cooling and heating units, lights, internet routers, televisions, and the list goes on and on.

Count on a more practical backup power plan. Keep the household essentials and extras running longer, whether in an extended, emergency outage or an off-grid living arrangement, with the Power Tower.

FAQ

What do you get with the Grid Doctor Power Tower—and what does each component do?

The Grid Doctor Power Tower takes the Grid Doctor 3300 and builds a complete long-duration backup power system around it. Each component serves a different purpose:

  • Grid Doctor 3300: Provides 3,300W of continuous power and 6,600W of surge capacity, determining what appliances and devices you can power.
  • Seven expansion batteries: Increase total stored energy from 2,048Wh to 16,384Wh—8X the battery capacity of the Grid Doctor 3300 alone. More stored energy means you can keep essential appliances and devices running much longer.
  • Five 200W solar panels: Provide up to 1,000W of solar input, giving you maximum solar charging capacity to replenish your batteries when grid power isn't available.
  • 75-foot solar extension cable: Gives you more flexibility to position the panels where they'll receive sunlight while keeping the generator and batteries protected indoors.

The Power Tower doesn't increase the Grid Doctor 3300's maximum output. Instead, it gives you significantly more stored energy and more solar charging capacity, creating a system built to keep the things you depend on powered through multi-day and extended outages.

Think of it this way: the Grid Doctor 3300 determines what you can power. The expansion batteries determine how long you can power it. The solar panels help you keep replenishing that power.

Can I build a Grid Doctor Power Tower over time?

Yes. You don't have to build your maximum-capacity backup system all at once.

You can start with the Grid Doctor 3300, which includes 2,048Wh of battery capacity, and add compatible expansion batteries as you want more runtime. The system supports up to seven expansion batteries for 16,384Wh of total stored power.

You can take the same approach with solar panels. Start with the included 200W panel and add compatible panels over time, up to five 200W panels for 1,000W of total solar input.

The Power Tower gives you the complete maximum-capacity setup from day one, while the expandable Grid Doctor platform gives you the flexibility to build toward it over time.

Can the Grid Doctor Power Tower connect to my home's electrical panel?

Yes. With a compatible transfer switch or other properly designed transfer equipment, the Grid Doctor 3300 can be connected to selected 120V circuits in your home's electrical panel. This allows you to power those circuits from one central connection rather than running individual extension cords to appliances throughout your home.

A transfer switch must be properly sized and professionally installed by a qualified electrician. Once installed, it can make switching selected household circuits to backup power much faster and more convenient when an outage occurs.

The Power Tower still provides a maximum of 3,300 watts of continuous 120V power, so the transfer switch does not increase how much power the system can produce. Instead, it gives you a more convenient way to distribute that power to the household circuits you choose to prioritize.

The Power Tower's 16,384Wh of battery capacity then becomes especially valuable: while the Grid Doctor 3300 determines what you can power at one time, the expansion batteries give you substantially more stored energy to keep those essential circuits powered longer.

How long can the Grid Doctor Power Tower provide backup power?

The Power Tower provides 16,384Wh of total battery capacity—8X the capacity of the Grid Doctor 3300 alone.

Exactly how long that lasts depends on what you're powering. A refrigerator, lights, communications equipment, and other essentials consume very different amounts of energy than a window A/C or power tools.

The real advantage is flexibility: you have a much larger energy reserve to manage across an extended outage, and the included solar array gives you a way to replenish that reserve when adequate sunlight is available.

Can I recharge the Grid Doctor Power Tower with solar during an extended outage?

Yes. In fact, that's a major reason the Power Tower includes five 200W waterproof solar panels.

Together, the panels provide up to 1,000 watts of solar input, giving you the system's maximum solar charging capacity. During a prolonged outage, that means you're not limited to the power stored in your batteries when the grid first goes down—you have a way to generate additional energy from sunlight.

The included 75-foot extension cable also lets you position the panels outside for better sun exposure while keeping the Grid Doctor and expansion batteries protected indoors.

Can the Grid Doctor Power Tower be used indoors?

Yes. The Grid Doctor and expansion batteries use LiFePO₄ battery technology and don't burn gasoline or other fuels, so there's no combustion exhaust or engine fumes produced during operation.

That means the power system can be operated indoors according to the product instructions while the included waterproof solar panels are deployed outside for charging.

Why choose the Power Tower generator system instead of a gas generator for extended outages?

A gas generator depends on a continuing supply of fuel. The Power Tower gives you a different approach: store a large amount of energy before an outage and generate more from sunlight while the grid is down.

With 16,384Wh of battery capacity and up to 1,000W of solar input, the Power Tower is designed to provide long-duration backup without gasoline storage, combustion fumes, engine noise, oil changes, or other routine engine maintenance.

That also allows the battery system to operate indoors while your solar panels generate additional power outside.

It arrived in 2 days

"It arrived in 2 days and my son opened it right away. He set up just 2 of the 4 panels I ordered. The battery was fully charged in only a few hours! He plugged in the Trager barbecue and cooked the meat in the same amount of time as usual. Everything turned out great! It is peace of mind to know we can cook without gas or electricity if needed. We love all the products we have ever purchased from Emergency Essentials. It is clear they care about quality and service to their customers! I am a long time customer and have never been disappointed. Thank you!!"

Too soon to review

"I’ve only had the 3300 a week or so. All I can say at this point is it was easy to figure out how to plug it in to an AC outlet to charge. So 4-stars for that."
