Cheese Blend Tip

... I especially like to add it to casseroles and hot dishes. Adding cheese to a plain white sauce recipe makes a great sauce for anything: vegetables, baked potatoes, etc... T Marshall, Texas

My Y2K Shephard's Pie recipie:

Mix up about a 1/2 cup of powdered cheese into a thick cheese sauce. Mix that into mashed potatos. Line a bread pan with this, saving about 1/4 of it. fill it with Hereford's canned roast beef (use all the juice/gravy), canned sweet peas w/ pearl onions, canned mushrooms, then spread the remaining cheesy potato mix on top. Mix up about a 1/8 cup more of the thick powdered cheese sauce and drizzle it on top. Bake at about 350 until you think it is done.

I have always like potato soup. Now I add the powdered cheese for a cheesey potato soup. My new favorite soup.

My kids have discovered a great new way to use the powdered cheese. They mix it up with hot water so that it is fairly thick, add a couple tablespoons of salsa, and enjoy nachos any time they feel like it. Simple enough even my 9 year old can do it on her own.

I have to do an enrichment meeting on the food portion of 72-hr backpack kits and the last time I did this we used unused cardboard milk cartons filled with tuna, slim jims, cocoa, mints, etc and sealed with duct tape and hot wax! I'd like to modernize with better food and more efficient storage containers and techniques!
